For the first year of Leo’s life, I made ALL his food, meticulously packed his lunches, and was the mother I tried to be with the previous three kids. Everything was GF, Non-GMO, Dairy Free, Organic etc etc. I was hell-bent on this and quite enjoyed it as he was the first kid to like and enjoy food in a way the other 3 did not. Cut to his 1st birthday and I threw in the towel. I basically decided to just let him eat what his siblings eat and focus on good, full nutritious foods when I can control it. Lately, my husband says the lunch I pack for him is officially called the “trash plate” it’s the brown apples from my kid’s lunch the day before, it’s a half-eaten banana, and some leftover sausage with some newly baked but maybe sus sweet potatoes.
