I hate mornings. I hate waking up. I feel like no matter how much sleep I have, how many supplements I take I just can’t ever catch up.
But in lieu of that (when I figure it out, by all means I will share) I decided to start off this new newsletter with a few of my routines and things that get me thru till the next cup of coffee.
1. Why the name?
As a busy designer, mother, founder, author and podcaster, I have seen and tested products and feel it’s only right to share the vast bounty of knowledge I have gained and benefited from to save you from sorting thru all the other shit. So this newsletter is the title, a little bit of everything and hoping that when I hear from you and what you want to know more of, a lot more of that!
2. Our Space
This is going to be a joyful, sometimes funny and not at all serious space for us to connect, to share and to help navigate the busy people we are. No downers allowed.
3. When?
I plan to post 2x per month with links and all sorts of action items that I hope will get you not only more organized but also just more informed, and p.s. -often I am flying by the seat of my pants, hoping not to crash. My goal is at least for you to feel like you have at hand lots of recos and tips for making life a tad bit easier and dare I say- healthier and special. If you are a founding member, get ready for 2x per year Zooms with me where we can go deep on topics and get to know one another. I will also be sharing codes and giveaways from like-minded brands that I love-cue your subscription fee being basically free bc of that, um you’re welcome!
4. So with all of the blah blah taken care of, here is Part 1 of The Morning Grind.
Our kid’s school starts at 9am (I know, it’s epic), so I generally sleep till 8, as Gavin has offered himself up as tribute to be the morning breakfast and all around kid hanger till I am up. Why would a Man make breakfast and pack lunches? Well because we split all the shit around the house that often times falls to the wives! I still wake up to feed little man nightly, so that hour from 7-8am alone in bed is BLISS… I then head down and the new fun is that my daughter, Bowie, has taken an interest in making my coffee. We have the Breville and one coffee ground cycle with 4 times thru the sieve is my jam. If I could have all of the objects I desire, I would for sure get the Anza espresso machine by Studio Montaag, GORG. I then add the game changing chocolate sweetener that took me off cream and I swear lost 4 lbs bc of it- cue in Lakanto Chocolate Powder. It makes my drink sweet, mocha-ish and cuts out any desire for creamers or sugar! From there I help with the balance of breakfast for kids, getting socks on feet and then Gavin and I alternate drop offs depending on who has an early morning call or meeting. No matter what, we listen to playlists on Spotify on our morning ride. Each kid gets a song and that keeps everyone pretty happy. Post drop off, I always head for a run at least 4 days per week for 2 miles or 20 mins, whatever comes first. The last few weeks, I have added in Pilates to get my core back which has healed my diastasis recti by 70%! For all things running, my shoe of choice has been New Balance Foam and for those with big, somewhat saggy chests, I deem the best sports bra on the planet, Spanx. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE running/living in these bike shorts. I know, I know Alo is the cool brand but honestly Spanx is more flattering, better material and just flatters me more. Post run, I def like to hydrate and am a die hard fan of these electrolytes that re-hydrate, remineralize me and give me an amino acid/protein boost. In general, I find I drink a lot more bc its so much tastier than plain water. Goal for me is 140 oz. per day. It’s not fun but I get there most days. Post run, I shower if I can, and I apply my dreamy cream, In Your Face. It’s heavy, moisturizing, and perfect for this 43 year old face. Most days if I am not on camera or don’t need anyone to see me that’s it! In the coming newsletters, I will breakdown the no-make up face I do as well as it’s more often than not I am applying SOME make up! After that it’s head out to the office or onto our daily zooms with my executive team, a tradition that I look forward to when we are remote.
I hope you enjoyed my first newsletter and be vocal, I want to hear all the questions and things you want to know!
xxRM
