What’s in My Bag

If you’re anything like me, your bag is basically a bottomless pit—packed with everything you might need (and, okay, maybe a few things you don’t). Which is exactly why I designed the Surplus Tote. Whether I’m headed to the office or a weekend getaway, this bag holds everything and then some. And spoiler alert, that’s exactly where its name comes from. Sure, it may be overflowing (a fun little side effect of the over-prepared mother in me), but at least it all fits. So, here’s a sneak peek into my life—aka my never-ending abyss of a tote bag.

First up: I’m carrying the newest edition of my book, Fearless, which now includes a shiny new bonus chapter. Because let’s face it, we all have fear. Even me, the person who named her first book Fearless (fitting, right?). Trying new things, taking a risk, leaving a job, breaking up, saying yes, saying no—it’s all scary. But to me, being fearless isn’t about not being afraid. It’s about doing something, even when you are afraid and shaking in your boots (though I’m more of a kitten heel kind of girl). It’s all about making peace with fear, becoming friends with it, and just doing it anyway. I can’t wait to share that journey with you. Fearless hits shelves on Tuesday, February 4th. Next up, I’ve got tickets to my upcoming 92NY event, where I’ll be sitting down with none other than Fern Mallis: THE creator of NYFW. Yes, you heard that right. Need I say it again for dramatic effect? Because trust me, I absolutely will. Nevertheless, on February 10th at 7:30 PM ET, we’ll be talking about all things career and brand building.
I’m sure you’re wondering: how did this all come about? Let me take you back to when I was 18, fresh off the plane from California, and interning at People’s Revolution PR in New York. When fashion week rolled around, it was my job to direct the top editors and stylists to their seats (no big deal, just telling fashion royalty where to sit). That’s when I saw Fern. And let me tell you, I knew exactly who she was. She was warm, kind, and treated me with so much respect. As my career grew, Fern was always there—attending my shows, having me on her radio show, and offering up advice when I needed it the most. I’m beyond lucky to call her a friend, and I can’t wait for you to join us at this special event. It’s going to be a conversation you definitely won’t want to miss. Secure your ticket here:

That’s just a small glimpse into my tote (because, let’s be real, I could write a whole other book on what’s in there). So here’s to staying fearless… and always having way too much stuff in your bag.
Xx,
